A concert that’s the very essence of our season! It’s Thunder Bay, the isolation, connectedness and hard-won perspectives. And the TBSO celebrates our uniqueness! We explore Pärt’s mystical and meditative style, and then listen to the premier of Paul Haas’ new symphony, based on the tale of a Métis woman stranded on Isle Royale. Next we travel through Rautavaara’s icy arctic musical landscapes: serene and painfully beautiful, and end with Gershwin, one of the most important outsider figures in 20th-century music.
