Une collaboration entre le Studio XX et le Studio 303.
Le Studio 303 participera à la treizième édition du festival HTMlles, un festival féministe d’arts médiatiques et de culture numérique organisé par le Studio XX. Du 1er au 5 novembre, expositions, ateliers, tables rondes, projections vidéo et performances se dérouleront dans plusieurs centres d’artistes et de recherche à travers Montréal.
LOVE SONGS TO FAILURE par Alejandro Sajgalik et Nina Vroemen
L’expression «restons ami-e-s» est souvent le verdict d’un amour raté. Or pour Sajgalik et Vrœmen, cette déclaration est source d’inspiration! Ces derniers redéfinissent la chanson d’amour, sans la contraindre à la romance normative, afin qu’elle devienne une ode à l’échec. Contrairement aux relations amoureuses, l’amitié se développe grâce à l’autonomie et à la création d’un espace. Structure improductive, la place occupée par l’amitié est ouverte, indéfinie, mais chargée de potentiel. Pour cette performance, des souvenirs enregistrés sont agencés à des projections vidéo, du mouvement et de l’improvisation musicale en direct. L’œuvre vise à créer des chansons d’amour qui célèbrent l’amitié en tant qu’alliance radicale. L’imagination s’ouvre aux possibles lorsque la romance perd de son hégémonie.

The Studio 303 will take part in the 13th edition of the HTMlles Festival, a feminist festival in media arts and digital culture, produced by the Studio XX. From November 1st to November 5th, exhibitions, workshops, round tables, video screenings, and performances will take place in several artists-run centres and research clusters across Montreal.
LOVE SONGS TO FAILURE by Alejandro Sajgalik and Nina Vroemen
“Let’s just be friends” is typically the chorus of failed love. But for Sajgalik and Vroemen, this statement is the source! They are redefining the love song as something that doesn’t limit itself to normative romance, allowing it to become an ode to failure. Unlike romantic relationships, friendship thrives with autonomy and creating space. Like unproductive infrastructure, the place that friendship inhabits is open-ended, undefined with potential. For the performance, recorded memories are remixed with projections, movement, and live musical improvisation.The work aims to create love songs that celebrate friendship as a radical alliance. Opening up the imagination to what becomes possible when romance loses its hegemony.
