Peter Oundjian conducts the final Mahler performances of his tenure with one of the most achingly romantic of all symphonies: Mahler’s Ninth. Mahler’s last completed work, it bids farewell to everything he held dear: love, the dances of the central European countryside, the bustle of the big city, and finally to life itself. Mirroring the opening week of Peter Oundjian’s TSO directorship in 2004, pianist Emanuel Ax once again weaves his magic with a concerto by Mozart. (Pictured: Emanuel Ax, piano)
