In organizing this event, the Chœur des enfants de Montreal is proud to help raise awareness of Earth Hour. Five youth choirs (about 120 choristers) will perform a programme of choral music – a celebration of light and hope. Together all choristers will perform For the Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter, Evening Rise, Spirit Come (Native American) and a traditional Zulu song, arranged by Alexander L’Estrange. Each choir will then perform separately.
In conjunction with the essential concept of Earth Hour, all of the Cathedral’s lights will be extinguished and candles will be lit. Audience members will be transported to a previous age in which the space is illuminated by dozens of individual points of light.
