Mécénat Musica reveals 70 Artist and Donor Initiatives

Montréal, October 1st, 2024 – Mécénat Musica’s donor matching program has successfully attained its $100 million goal of in perpetuity capital for Québec cultural organizations, enabling Mécénat Musica to reveal 70 artist and donor initiatives: 38 Artist Prizes, 15 Artist Residencies, 7 Artist Programs and 10 Donor Programs:

 

Mécénat Musica 38 Artist Prizes

Prix Goyer: The largest prize, $125,000, for collaborative emerging artist in classical music in Canada, one of the largest in the world.

Prix HEC Artistes: HEC Montréal grants (7 per year), $125,000 over 5 years, to develop a new generation of Quebec cultural managers.

Prix Crowdfunding: Matching grants (10 per year), $125,000 over 5 years, for small classical music ensembles, for projects of their choice.

Actor’s North Prize: Matching grants (20 per year), for professional actors, to improve their professional knowledge and skills.

 

Mécénat Musica 15 Artist Residencies

Ambassadors in Residence: Ten NextGen artists and arts administrators present Mécénat Musica, to create an in-perpetuity culture.

Artist in Residence: Collaborates in performances with Mécénat Musica organizations.

Composer in Residence: Provides compositions to emerging Quebec & Canadian artists, without royalties, in perpetuity.

Educator in Residence: Embodies artistic citizenship, actively fostering equity, diversity and inclusion.

Choral in residence: Fifteen album anthology covering the history of choral music, and a free online resource library of videoclips.

Ambassador Emeritus: Encourages organizations to collaborate, to create an in-perpetuity culture in the community.

 

Mécénat Musica 7 Artist Programs

Mini-Concerts Santé & Mini-Opéras Santé: Educates and supports children, adolescents, elderly, adults, and families in underserved neighborhoods, who do not have exposure to culture. 2024: 3,500 concerts, 33,000 spectators, 1,100 musician hires, 46 cities and towns.

Mini-Galas: Musicians thank Mécénat Musica donors and their families for donations to the cultural organization important to the donor.

Poterie Opéra: Hand-made pottery delivered by opera singer to mothers and fathers in precarious situations on Mother’s & Father’s Day.

Garage: 50 garage concerts (over 5 years) with professional immigrant musicians (23% of the population are immigrants) presenting their culture of origin, collaborating with local artists, in a spirit of diversity & inclusion.

Le 9e Grand Salle: 50 chamber music concerts (over 5 years) in Montreal’s world class Art Deco heritage site – Le 9e Grand Salle.

Touring: 50 chamber music concerts (over 5 years) across up to 40 towns in the Maritimes.

 

Mécénat Musica 10 Donor Programs

Cultural Donation Tax Credit: Individuals make a cash donation of $25,000 to the in perpetuity fund of the cultural organization important to them (Québec net cost after tax, once in a lifetime, is $6,750 or $5,425 – see Note B).  Watch videoclip Mécénat Musica in Perpetuity.

Mécénat Musica Family: Philanthropic families match individuals’ donations with donations of $250,000 or $2,500,000.

Donation of Shares: Individuals make a $25,000 donation of public company shares (net cost with large non-realized gains can be as low as $4,566 – see Notes) and can be done by the donor multiple times.

Quebec resident corporations & shareholders: Make a donation of $250,000 of public company shares (net cost with large non-realized gains can be as low as $5,841 – see Notes).

Donation of RRSP/RRIF: Donors donate funds not needed for their retirement or estate, to in-perpetuity funds of cultural organizations.

Condos for Culture©: Donors donate condos, houses, chalets or other personal use, real estate, hassle-free to in-perpetuity funds.

Donors-in-Residence: Mécénat Musica donors helping donors join Mécénat Musica, to keep culture healthy, in perpetuity.

Community Foundation Partners: $102 million is administered by three collaborating community foundations: the Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal and Fondation Québec Philanthrope, generating $5,000,000 in annual revenue (5.0%) … in perpetuity … for the benefit of 50 Quebec cultural organizations.
