Harp virtuoso Lori Gemmell, joining us for the first time this year, opens with Britten’s Suite; then get ready for five minutes of frenzy with Connesson’s Disco-Toccata (you might remember his Techno Parade from last year), and Schoenberg’s electrifying setting of Lord Byron’s Ode to Napoleon, a thinly-veiled and withering attack on Hitler written at the height of WWII. Finally, we’ll hear Mendelssohn’s majestic C minor Trio, with three brilliant young professional musicians who are alumni of our Young Artist Program.
