The Upper Canada Choristers and their accomplished Latin-American ensemble Cantemos celebrate the rich diversity of Venezuelan music, with its African, Spanish, Caribbean, and Indigenous cultural influences. Laurie Evan Fraser conducts, with Hye Won (Cecilia) Lee as pianist. Special guests are La Petite Musicale of Toronto, a vivacious folk choir of émigrés from Trinidad and Tobago; and internationally celebrated, visionary Venezuelan composer César Alejandro Carrillo and his wife, poet Laura Morales Balza, on their first Toronto visit. Maestro Carrillo conducts three movements from his Missa sine nomine (1999/2008), and two wistful works that Cantemos commissioned from him and premiered. Emceed by Venezuelan-Canadians Antonio Mata and Cecilia Salcedo.

Tickets: $40, are available from Eventbrite. Children and youths 16 and under free when accompanied by an adult.

Also streaming live on the choir’s website, Free, but donations are appreciated. More info, including the Choir’s blog, is also on the website.
