Montréal, March 28 2024 – Since 2018, Montreal opera creation company Musique 3 Femmes has been creating, developing and producing new operas by female composers and librettists. After nearly 6 years of existence, the company has now created 12 new chamber operas. Support for this was provided by the Mécénat Musica Prix 3 Femmes and various arts councils and foundations. Pandemic arts council funding afforded us the opportunity to transform four of these operas into films. Montreal, March 25th, 2024 – Pro Musica is delighted to announce that the third concert in the Mélodînes series will feature a brilliant trio formed by Irina Krasnyanskaya and featuring Julia Mirzoev on violin, Braden McConnell on cello and Antoine Rivard-Landry on piano. It might not be too well-known for those outside of North-America that February coincides with Black History Month, a tradition set in 1976, exactly a half century after its initial instalment on a smaller scale, originally designated as Negro History Week.
