Sumaq Bolivia (meaning “beautiful” in Quechua) is a Bolivian trio that celebrates the musical diversity of their country of origin. Trained in different traditions –classical and traditional music–they present a conversation of styles and genres, ranging from taquiraris, chovenas, carnavalitos and chacareras from the lowlands of Bolivia, to huayños cuecas and caporales from the Andean region. Sumaq Bolivia is formed by Karin Cuellar –baroque violinist and director of the project ClassiqueInclusif; Vanessa Villegas–lead singer of the group Tarikuna; and Franz Villegas–guitar and charango player, former member of the renown Bolivian group “Los Masis.”
