Cordes en Soie brings together the musical traditions of China and Persia through the captivating sounds of the guzheng and the kamancheh. Chinese musician Ran Wang and Iranian musician Sareh Borna weave a musical dialogue inspired by the cultural exchanges of the Silk Road, the vast network that once connected East Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
Through ancient melodies, improvisation, and poetic soundscapes, the two artists explore the resonances between their respective traditions. The plucked strings of the guzheng meet the bowed strings of the kamancheh in an exchange that is both delicate and vibrant, where timbres echo, intertwine, and transform one another.
An intimate concert where memory, travel, and cultural dialogue are transformed into music.
