This program weaves together medieval cantigas, liturgical chants, Sephardic romances, and Arabo-Andalusian muwashshahat, creating a rich tapestry of interconnected musical traditions. Exploring themes of spirituality, love, longing, and exile, these works bear witness to a shared cultural memory shaped by centuries of encounter and exchange. Performed by Ziya Tabassian (percussion), Joshua Greenberg (oud), and Gabrielle Cloutier (voice), Convivencia brings this remarkable musical heritage to life as a living tradition of musical transmission, where ancient voices continue to resonate beyond the boundaries of time and place.
