Alto saxophonist Roy Styffe pays tribute to the timeless music of the Paul Desmond Quartet in an evening celebrating one of jazz’s most lyrical and distinctive voices. Best known as the composer of the classic Take Five and for his work with Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond created a uniquely elegant sound that continues to inspire generations of musicians. A longtime admirer of Desmond’s warm tone, melodic imagination, and understated swing, Styffe leads an outstanding quartet through beloved classics and hidden gems from Desmond’s celebrated recordings with guitarist Jim Hall. Expect an evening of sophisticated, intimate jazz filled with lyrical improvisation, effortless interplay, and the cool, timeless spirit that made Paul Desmond a true jazz icon.
