TORONTO – Toronto Summer Music announced programming details for the free concerts, masterclasses and events offered during the 2019 Festival, which runs July 11 to August 3. All free events at TSM’s 2019 Festival are part of the TD Free Concert Series.
TSM Connect is a series of free daytime events running during the festival in Walter Hall at University of Toronto (80 Queen’s Park).
TSM Connect – Masterclasses are open to the general public to observe with pianist Warren Jones (July 12, 10 a.m. – Noon); violinist Bryan Lee (July 16, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.); Art of Song Masterclass with tenor Anthony Dean Griffey (July 19, 10 a.m. – Noon); Chamber Music Institute Masterclass with cellist Yegor Dyachov (July 23, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.); and violist Hsin-Yun Huang (July 30, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.).
TSM Connect – Open Rehearsals give fans the opportunity to watch guest artists prepare for select festival concerts: Charles Richard-Hamelin (July 19, 2 p.m.); Souvenir de Florence (July 26, 2 p.m.) and Mendelssohn Octet (August 2, 2 p.m.).
TSM Connect – Talks feature composer Christos Hatzis (July 12, 6:30 p.m. in the Boyd Neel Room in the Edward Johnson Building) and the artists from Source and Inspiration (July 26, 4:30 p.m.) in Walter Hall.
Academy Lunch Concerts are free concerts that showcase gifted young performers from the Toronto Summer Music Academy on July 17, 18, 19, 31, August 1 and 2, at Noon in Heliconian Hall (35 Hazelton Avenue).
SHUFFLE Hour free concerts take place at 5 p.m. in Yorkville’s Heliconian Hall (35 Hazelton Avenue) and feature performances by Festival artists and exciting next-generation stars. The 2019 line-up includes:
