August 6, 2015: As of today, individual tickets for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 2015/2016 performance season are available to purchase online at TSO.CA, by phone (416.593.4828), and in person at the TSO Patron Services Centre or the Roy Thomson Hall box office. The FAB3 programme, which offers Compose Your Own subscription options, will continue to be available to TSO patrons wishing to receive ticket discounts and subscriber benefits.
A new and exciting addition to the upcoming season will be Peter and the Wolf: In Support of SickKids. The first annual TSO Benefit Concert for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) will take place on November 26, 2015 at 7:30pm at Roy Thomson Hall. TSO Music Director Peter Oundjian—a former SickKids patient—will conduct and co-host the event with CBC award-winning comedian Rick Mercer, who will act as narrator in Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. The evening will also feature young piano phenomenon Coco Ma and Neil Deland, TSO Principal French Horn. All proceeds from this concert will go directly to SickKids.
“Innovation, collaboration, and eclecticism: these three ideals are at the heart of the upcoming season,” says Music Director Peter Oundjian. Featuring a rich mix of world-renowned classical artists, filmmakers, jazz performers, and for the first ever, a DJ, the new season includes the much anticipated Decades Project, the 12th annual New Creations Festival, a semi-staged production of Mozart’s Requiem as part of the Mozart@260 Festival, the return of The Second City Guide to the Symphony, alliances with Toronto cultural partners like the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Ontario Science Centre, multidisciplinary collaborations, and much more. The 2015/2016 season—with over 100 concerts, featuring four world premières, one North American première, five Canadian premières, and six TSO commissions—will offer blockbusters, as well as an array of concerts that will push artistic boundaries further than ever before.
