Premier François Legault and Culture Minister Nathalie Roy unveiled a new $50 million grant program that will help more than 500 cultural organizations across the Quebec.

The program will allow the government to reimburse theatres 75% of the price of tickets sold at this time last year, for the period from October 1 to March 31, 2021. In order to receive this financial assistance, the institutions will have to prove that artists and other workers will actually be paid. The funds will be administered by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC), both under the responsibility of the Minister of Culture and Communications.

Last June, the Quebec government allocated $400 million to support the cultural sector in the face of the pandemic.
