Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin & cellist Cameron Crozman

Often dubbed the poet of the piano, Frédéric Chopin wrote very little music that did not spotlight that instrument. Aside from a handful of works for piano and flute, the only other instrument that seemed to hold Chopin’s interest was the cello. This beautiful recital pairs cellist Cameron Crozman, performing on the circa 1769 Spanish “El Tiburon” cello, and celebrated award-winning pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin for a feast of works by Chopin. The duo performs the romantic era master’s haunting Introduction et Polonaise Brillante en do majeur op. 3, his Grand duo concertant sur des thèmes de Robert le diable B. 70, and the Sonata for cello and piano, as well as arrangements of Chopin préludes by cellist Auguste Joseph Franchomme. As soloists, Crozman performs a Franchomme arrangement of Caprice no.9, and Richard-Hamelin the Valse brillante op. 34 no. 2 en la mineur.
