Christiane Mariane von Ziegler, Leipzig’s Poet Laureate (1733), vigorously defended women’s rights to improved education and literary enterprise. She was one of J.S. Bach’s esteemed librettists ( setting texts to nine cantatas) and a rare woman’s voice in the Lutheran liturgy. This programme celebrates the two Leipzig artists’ short but fruitful creative partnership. This is the closing concert of EMV’s 2023 Summer Festival.
