The Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques Laureates Announced

Montreal, May 21, 2025 – Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20 is proud to announce the winners of the 32nd National Lyric Audition of its Young Lyric Ambassadors (J.A.L.) program, a unique international showcase for emerging young Canadian opera singers.

Following auditions held across the country from April 24 to 27, an international selection committee composed of opera directors from Europe and the Americas selected singers under the age of 35 who distinguished themselves through their vocal excellence, stage presence, and international career potential.

The 2025 J.A.L. laureates are:

  • Ariane Cossette – Soprano – Québec
  • Andrew Derynck – Tenor – Ontario
  • Ellita Gagner – Mezzo-Soprano – Nova Scotia
  • Natasha Henry – Soprano – Ontario
  • Queen Hezumuryango – Mezzo-Soprano – Ontario
  • Anne Jean – Soprano – Ontario
  • Olivia LaPointe – Soprano – New Brunswick
  • Lauren Margison – Soprano – Ontario
  • Lissy Meyerowitz – Mezzo-Soprano – Ontario
  • Camila Montefusco – Mezzo-Soprano – Québec
  • Karoline Podolak – Soprano – Ontario
  • Sara Schabas – Soprano – Ontario
  • Ilanna Starr – Mezzo-Soprano – Québec
  • Lucie St-Martin – Soprano – Québec
  • Elias Theocharidis –Tenor – Ontario

This Fall, the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques will be invited to perform at three concerts of the Rencontres lyriques internationales de Montréal and the 31st Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques Benefit Gala, in front of invited opera directors from Europe, Asia, and the Americas, who will offer them advanced training courses in Europe, auditions or audition tours, concerts or concert tours, opera productions from European opera houses, and numerous support bursaries.

In the meantime, many of these young artists will have the opportunity to participate in the semifinals of international singing competitions in Europe, proudly representing our country’s talents abroad. This program, a pillar of the Canadian and global opera scene for over 30 years, has established itself as a veritable springboard to an international career. Thanks to the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques program, numerous Canadian artists have been able to shine on the greatest stages of Europe, Asia, and America. It represents a unique bridge between emerging Canadian talent and opera houses around the world.
