ProArteDanza announces programming for its 2015 Season

Toronto, July 6, 2015 – ProArteDanza, Toronto’s highly acclaimed dance company that seamlessly blends ballet and modern dance, has announced programming for its 2015 Season.

At the helm of “the best small-scale contemporary ballet company in Canada” (The Globe and Mail), Artistic Director Roberto Campanella has prepared an exciting season featuring three world premieres(including new choreography by Italy’s acclaimed Mauro Astolfi) in its Mainstage offering in September, a cross-Ontario tour in November of three celebrated works from ProArteDanza’s impressive repertoire as well as a Summer Intensive Program with public performances in August. The details follow:

SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM PERFORMANCES:
August 28 at 8pm August 29 at 2pm and 8pm at Winchester Street Theatre, 80 Winchester St.

ProArteDanza’s Summer Intensive Program gives pre-professional dancers all the ingredients for serious professional development and advancement. At the end of four weeks of high-level technical training and intense conditioning, students perform work by Robert Glumbek and new choreographies by John Ottmann and Roberto Campanella. SEASON 2015 MAINSTAGE:
September 23-26 at 8pm at Harbourfront Centre’s Fleck Dance Theatre,207 Queens Quay W.

For its Season 2015 Mainstage event, ProArteDanza is presents a stunning evening of three world premieres:

Mauro Astolfi, Artistic Director of Rome’s Spellbound Contemporary Ballet and one of Europe’s most important choreographers, creates a new group work for the company entitled (don’t) Follow the Instructions;


frequent ProArteDanza dancer Ryan Lee makes his choreographic debut with a yet-to-be-titled group piece; and


– ProArteDanza Artistic Director Roberto Campanella andArtistic Associate Robert Glumbek cocreate their highly anticipated Beethoven’s 9th Symphony – Second Movement, the third instalment of what will eventually be a four-part choreographic work for Beethoven’s masterpiece as the Firstand Third Movements have already been premiered.

TRIPLE BILL TOUR:
November 8-17 in Milton, Burlington, North Bay and Kingston.

In November, ProArteDanza tours three audience and critical favourites from its repertoire across Ontario:

Sunday,November 8 at 7pm at the Mattamy Theatre inMilton;

Wednesday,November 11 at 8pm at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre inBurlington;

Friday,November 13 at 8pm at the Capitol Centre in North Bay; and

Tuesday,November 17 at 7:30pm at the Grand Theatre inKingston.


The works on tour include:

– the strikingly beautiful and Dora-award-winning Š in between Š, co-choreographed by Roberto Campanella and Robert Glumbek who won for Outstanding Choreography;

– Still, Robert Glumbek’s fun reflection and riff on relationships; and

– fractals: a pattern in chaos, a dazzling, complex Dora-nominated ensemble work from National Ballet of Canada principal dancer and choreographer Guillaume Côté that explores the idea of order in chaos, described as “sheer kinetic excitement by the Toronto Star and “dizzying and dazzling” by the Globe and Mail (2011)
