Montréal – This fifth edition is made possible thanks to the generous support of Ms. Élizabeth Wirth and Mr. Mario Lafond, co-presenters, and the Foundation Père Lindsay for Musical Composition. This edition is organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Music at the Université de Montréal and the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
The program is open to musicians who have graduated or are in their final year of an undergraduate music degree, or at an equivalent level, aged 30 or younger (non-students are eligible). It offers a unique learning opportunity to develop the craft of a professional orchestral musician by working and performing alongside the musicians of the Orchestre classique de Montréal, one of Canada’s most distinguished and longest-standing ensembles.
This season will also feature a new initiative: thanks to the support of the Père Lindsay Foundation, we are offering Tom Lachance, a young composer from McGill University’s Faculty of Music, the opportunity to create an original work that will premiere at the season’s closing concert on May 30 at the Maison symphonique.
During the program, in addition to public performances, interns will participate in masterclasses, coaching sessions, and lectures, workshops, and other professional development courses.
For this edition, the OCM is welcoming 14 interns: 12 string players (7 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, and 1 double bass), assistant conductor Emile Grou, and composer Tom Lachance.
