Gentiane Michaud-Gagnon, known as Gentiane MG, is a Montreal-based pianist and composer whose music explores human connection through jazz, classical influence, and evocative imagery. Rooted in nature, memory, and lived experience, her work transforms vulnerability into clarity and movement. She holds a master’s degree in jazz performance from McGill University and a diploma from the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec. Gentiane’s fourth album with her award-winning piano trio, Can You Hear the Birds?, was released March 27, 2026.
Can You Hear the Birds?, is a deeply human project shaped by connection, listening, and emotional presence. Performed with her long standing trio, bassist Levi Dover and drummer Mark Nelson, the music unfolds as a shared experience rooted in trust, intuition, and collective expression.
Can You Hear the Birds? is a fully realized and resonant artistic statement that marks a defining chapter in Gentiane’s career. The music explores connection in all its forms, with others, with nature, with creativity itself, and with parts of oneself still being discovered. Rather than telling specific stories, the compositions create open emotional landscapes, allowing listeners to move between turbulence and calm, vulnerability and strength, grief and joy.
