Each with their own styles and respective functions and positions, Bach and his four sons contributed greatly to the development of orchestral music in 18th-century Germany and elsewhere in Europe. Of notable mention: alongside their symphonic works, they also invented the keyboard Concerto. Bach’s eldest sons, Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, were part of a generation that presented an audacious new sensibility with expressive power, serving as a precursor to the Romantic period. A concert by musicians of the emerging generation: harpsichordist Steve Bergeron, 3rd-Prize winner in the Jurow International Harpsichord Performance Competition 2021; and Thomas Le Duc-Moreau, Assistant Conductor to Kent Nagano for the OSM, from 2019 to 2021

Event Artists

Steve Bergeron: harpsichord; Ensemble Volte under the direction of Thomas Le Duc-Moreau.
