All born and raised in Ottawa, musicians Wallis Giunta (mezzo-soprano), Suren Barry (piano), and Carson Becke (piano) now make their homes in Vienna, Montreal, and Wakefield respectively. They unite here for a concert that is anchored by Suren and Carson’s two-piano arrangement of Gustav Holst’s deeply-loved masterwork The Planets. Holst was inspired by each of the planets’ astrological characteristics – Mars as the bringer of war, Venus the bringer of peace, Jupiter the bringer of jollity, and so on. In this performance, our artists follow each planet with pieces that delve deeper into those same characteristics – musical moons in the orbit of their planets. You’ll hear extracts from operas, art songs, and even a few pieces for voice and two pianos. Join us for this musical exploration of the wonders of our solar system!
