Dans la série ECM+Débuts, visant à faire connaître de jeunes virtuoses, la flûtiste Marilène Provencher-Leduc interprète le célèbre Kathinkas Gesang de Stockhausen extrait de son opéra Licht, dans la version originale pour flûte solo et six percussionnistes spatialisés. Véritable « requiem » pour Lucifer, le chat Kathinka y récite les formules magiques qui guideront Lucifer vers la lumière… Également au programme, la création d’Axon de Taylor Brook — Prix du jury Génération2016 — que jouera la flûtiste avec le contrebassiste Gaspard Daigle, et Nasenflügeltanz — aussi de Stockhausen — joué par le percussionniste Olivier Maranda.

 

In the ECM+Debuts series, intended to showcase young virtuoso soloists, flutist Marilène Provencher-Leduc performs Stockhausen’s famous Kathinkas Gesang from the opera Licht, in its original version for solo flute and six spatially separated percussionists. In this veritable “requiem” for Lucifer, the cat Kathinka recites the magic formulas that will guide Lucifer to the light. The program also includes Taylor Brook’s creation Axon—theGeneration2016 Jury Award winner—performed by Provencher-Leduc with double bass player Gaspard Daigle, and Nasenflügeltanz, also by Stockhausen, performed by percussionist Olivier Maranda.

More than an ensemble, ECM+ produces innovative, multidisciplinary concerts and showcases Canadian musical creation throughout the country. Since it was founded in 1987, ECM+ has premiered 246 mostly Canadian works. The ensemble has released ten CDs, and its concerts were regularly broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI Musique and CBC Radio Two. ECM+ is in residence at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 1998.
