A distinctive and visionary composer, Rita Strohl enjoyed significant recognition at the turn of the twentieth century before fading from the repertoire. Now experiencing a revival, her music stands out for its lyricism, dramatic intensity, and harmonic boldness. In this intimate chamber music program, musicians of the Orchestre Métropolitain place Strohl’s works alongside two emblematic French masterpieces: Gabriel Fauré’s deeply expressive Élégie and Camille Saint-Saëns’ timeless The Swan from The Carnival of the Animals. An evocative journey into the Belle Époque, where rediscovery meets refinement and expressive depth. Orchestre Métropolitain’s Quintet: Yukari Cousineau, violin ∙ Nancy Ricard, violin ∙ Elvira Misbakhova, viola ∙ Agnès Langlois, cello ∙ Charissa Vandikas, piano
