Depuis 2018, l’Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) et ses partenaires se réunissent annuellement lors d’un concert hommage collectif au grand compositeur et pédagogue Gilles Tremblay maintenant disparu, longtemps figure de proue au Canada et au Conservatoire où il a enseigné. Au programme, Envoi pour piano solo avec Louise Bessette et grand ensemble et diverses œuvres de chambre. Aussi au programme, Versetti du compositeur Silvio Palmieri ancien élève de Gilles Tremblay disparu prématurément, en 2018.
Coproduction de l’Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) avec Paramirabo, Magnitude6 et la pianiste Louise Bessette.

Since 2018, the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) and its partners have been coming together for an annual collective tribute concert to the late, great composer and teaccher Gilles Tremblay, a long-time figurehead in Canada and at the Conservatoire where he taught. On the program will be Envoi for solo piano, featuring Louise Bessette and large ensemble, and various chamber works. Concertgoers will also hear Versetti by composer Silvio Palmieri, a former studet of Gilles Tremblay, who died before his time in 2018.

More than an ensemble, ECM+ produces innovative, multidisciplinary concerts and showcases Canadian musical creation throughout the country. Renowned for her flair and her appetite for risk-taking, artistic director Véronique Lacroix is passionate about creation and, with her musicians, is helping to foster the next generation of composers. Since it was founded in 1987, ECM+ has premiered 246 mostly Canadian works. Its productions have garnered prestigious awards, including the 2002 Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal, the 2002 Prix Opus for Musical Event of the Year, and the 2007 Prix Opus for Artistic Direction of the Year. In addition to its regular season’s productions, ECM+ has toured Canada with the Generation project every two years since 2000. Moreover, the ensemble has participated in international exchanges with France, Belgium, Mexico, Ukraine, and Singapore. ECM+ has performed at 21C Music Festival of Toronto, Festival Internacional Cervantino, Montreal/New Music Festival, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, Montreal Chamber Music Festival, Québec’s Musiques au present festival, Toronto’s Massey Hall New Music Festival, and Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville. The ensemble has released ten CDs, and its concerts were regularly broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI Musique and CBC Radio Two. ECM+ is in residence at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal since 1998.
