VICTORIA, B.C. – Dance Victoria celebrates its landmark 30th anniversary with a line-up of powerhouse dance companies from Greece, Germany, New York, and Vancouver. Marking three decades of bringing the World’s Best Dance to the Royal Theatre, the 2026/27 season is a bold reflection of the energy and artistic innovation that have made Victoria a destination for international dance.
“It has been a joy to curate Dance Victoria’s 30th anniversary season,” shares Executive Director Gillian Jones. “Truly, it has felt like there’s no limit in terms of the companies we can attract to Victoria, and the range of artistic voices our audiences will enthusiastically welcome. I hope this program surprises, energizes, and deeply resonates with our community—and that you consider it as “unmissable” as we do!”
As Dance Victoria celebrates this milestone, it also looks to the future with a new brand identity. Developed by Becoming Design Office, this visual identity is “built to move,” reflecting both Dance Victoria’s legacy as one of Canada’s leading dance presenters and its ongoing commitment to the artists and communities it serves. The new brand will be shared publicly on May 1 as part of the Design Victoria festival.
Dance at the Royal subscriptions include tickets to all four Royal Theatre performances, with a savings of up to $132 over regular ticket prices. Subscriptions go on sale to the public today!
The complete 2026/27 Dance at the Royal Series
The season opens on November 6 + 7, 2026 with Greek contemporary company Christos Papadopoulos / The Lion and the Wolf. My Fierce Ignorant Step features ten dancers who build an ecstatic soundscape of voice and movement, drawing on the sonic memories of award-winning Artistic Director and choreographer Papadopoulos’ childhood in Greece.

On January 29 + 30, 2027, Martha Graham Dance Company (New York) brings its 100th-anniversary program honouring the legacy of Martha Graham—revolutionary American choreographer and the “Mother of Modern Dance.” A rare opportunity to experience one of the world’s most influential and enduring dance companies performing the iconic Errand into the Maze, Lamentation, and Diversion of Angels, alongside bold new creations.
Vancouver-based Kidd Pivot returns to Victoria on March 12 + 13. Led by acclaimed Canadian choreographer and Artistic Director Crystal Pite, the company is known for its sharp-witted fusion of dance and theatre. In Assembly Hall, a mock-medieval tournament AGM spirals into strangeness as ancient forces blur reality and re-enactment.

The season’s high-energy finale is Gauthier Dance’s FireWorks on April 23 + 24. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Theaterhaus Stuttgart (Germany), Canadian Artistic Director Eric Gauthier invited twelve of the world’s top choreographers to create a dynamic collection of works inspired by the theatre’s illustrious jazz tradition.
