“Intentions fragmentaires” is a multidisciplinary collaboration that combines the expansive sound of a solo electric guitar, a dynamic choreography for three dancers and a breathtaking sequence of landscape photographs. Tim Brady performs live his latest album, “Symphony in 18 Parts,” Charles Brécard leads his urban/traditional/contemporary hybrid dance choreography, all while immersed in the projections of Catherine Marcogliese’s stunning photographs.

In this 55-minute series of journeys, we explore nature and the human spirit in the places where beauty and desolation coexist. We are compelled to ask ourselves important questions about our intentions for these journeys, both as individuals and as a society. Where is our starting point and where is our destination? Are our journeys merely a fragment of a greater reality, or is each journey a complete and unique experience? To fully understand and answer these questions, we engage all our senses through playing, dancing, watching and listening.

Tim Brady is well-known to Montreal and international audiences for his imaginative work as both a composer and an electric guitarist. For over 30 years, he has created a multi-textured approach to solo guitar music, a highly personal synthesis of new music, jazz, rock and electronics. The guitar as orchestra – from intimate moments to massive multiple guitar loops and samples. His most recent album, “Symphony in 18 parts” for solo electric guitar, was released on Starkland Records in April 2023.

Charles Brécard is gaining recognition for the quality of his hybrid dance style influenced by urban, traditional and contemporary dances and by his profession as a sports massage therapist. His choreographies, imbued with great physicality, poetry and activism, has led him to perform locally and internationally. He recently won three prestigious awards at the Solo Tanz Theater Festival Stuttgart 2023: first prize in choreography, a DAF International Award Residency and the Dynamic Balance Award.

Catherine Marcogliese has exhibited in Canada, Europe and the United States including permanent collections in important institutions such as the New Mexico History Museum and the Geological Reserve of Haute-Provence. Her photography pushes beyond a straightforward narrative towards a freer, more personal expression. Throughout her career, her work has explored landscape and our relationship to our environment, questioning the representation of landscape as altered by the rhythms of life.
