From June 23rd to September 30th, 2020, Mécénat Musica: Mini-Concerts Santé delivered 4,900 free door-to-door outdoor concerts for social and mental health to 36,000 children, adolescents, seniors, adults, and families in 648 disadvantaged streets in 97 regions, cities and neighbourhoods of Québec and Ontario. Of the $510,000 donated, $464,294 (91%) went directly to 1,700 musician hires – professional singers and instrumentalists who perform with 184 classical music organizations.

Music delivery to the door is a social and community innovation to reduce the impact of this unparalleled crisis on the psychological, social, and mental health of all members of our communities. Created early in the pandemic, Mécénat Musica: Mini-Concerts Santé is the initiative of founder Matthias Maute and his classical music ensembles – Ensemble Caprice and Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec – and Mécénat Musica.

During the pandemic, Mécénat Musica has launched several health, music, and community initiatives to reduce the impact of this unparalleled crisis on the psychological, social, and mental health of communities, including Mécénat Musica: Mini-Concerts Santé, Mini-Galas Santé, Music for Hope, and Prix 3 Femmes – dedicated to developing new operas by emerging women Canadian composers and librettists.

Mini-Concerts Santé and Music for Hope are gratefully funded by 8 Mécénat Musica donor individuals, Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Molson Foundation, R. Howard Webster Foundation, Ensemble Caprice, Foundation of Greater Montreal, Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec, CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal.

Mécénat Musica’s aim is to make a sustainable contribution to the health of all, by supporting health, music, and culture. During the pandemic, Mécénat Musica program distributed $1.5 million to 35 Quebec cultural organizations. The $510,000 provided for Mini-Concerts Santé brings the total distributed by Mécénat Musica programs during the pandemic for health, music & culture to $2.0 million.
