Legendary saxophonist and composer Bob Mintzer is joining the Orchestre de jazz des diplômé·es de l’Université de Montréal (Université de Montréal Graduates Jazz Band) for an electrifying evening under the direction of Ron Di Lauro, Faculty of Music professor emeritus. A member of the Yellowjackets and a Grammy Award winner, Mintzer is recognized for his innovative big band approach, blending jazz, funk and Latin music. A key figure on the Québec music scene, Ron Di Lauro has tutored several generations of musicians and sparked numerous collaborations of note in the jazz, classical and pop-music spheres. This concert will be showcasing the virtuosity of performers trained at the Faculty of Music in a vibrant performance where tradition meets modernity.
Besides taking part in the concert, Bob Mintzer will be offering a masterclass presented free of charge on December 7 at 2 p.m., where both musicians and the general public will get a chance to discover more about his art.
