The UdeM Big Band, which this year is celebrating its 45th anniversary, will take to the boards of Théâtre Outremont and welcome as guest soloists none other than teachers in the Faculty of Music jazz department. Under the direction of João Lenhari, you’ll get to hear trombonist Jean-Nicolas Trottier, guitarist Reno Di Stefano, pianists John Roney and Manoel Vieira and saxophonist Dany Roy do the soloing alongside music students – playing well-known jazz standards, new compositions and even special arrangements of their own. Trumpeter Ron Di Lauro, a professor emeritus of the Faculty, will also be performing in this festive concert.
The event is part of Festival Vibrations, which runs from October 16 to 18, 2025, as well as the special program marking the 75 years of the Université de Montréal Faculty of Music and the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the borough of Outremont.
The Faculty of Music benefits from the support of the Fonds Sophie Desmarais pour le Big Band de l’Université de Montréal.
