Gareth Burgess has been playing steel pan for the past 32 years. He began his musical career at the conservatory of music a the age of 5. He started playing steel pan under the guidance of Layne Clark with Panatics steel band orchestra. He has also performed with the silhouettes steel band and Afropan steel band. Gareth currently plays with two Caribbean Jazz groups, Kalabash and the Caribbean Jazz Collective. With Kalabash Gareth has played at many jazz festivals around the world. Gareth currently teaches music for the TDSB and at York University.
