Musical Journey Through Argentinian Landscapes

El Ceibo (pronounced Elle Say-Boh) is a dynamic five-piece Argentinian folk ensemble founded by director and percussionist Patricio Llovet. Based in Mississauga, the group is dedicated to preserving and reimagining Argentina’s diverse traditions, weaving guitar, charango, vocals, violin, and traditional percussion with contemporary jazz and chamber music explorations.

Their sound has earned airplay on CBC Radio 1 and Jazz FM, leading to performances at the Living Arts Centre, and Folk Alliance International. As the only group in Ontario specifically showcasing traditions like zambas, chacareras, and cuecas with original arrangements, El Ceibo offers a rare cultural experience that is currently underrepresented in Canada.

More than just a concert, an El Ceibo performance is a musical journey. This ensemble of professional musicians engages audiences through storytelling, sharing the social context and history behind the rhythms to build meaningful connections. El Ceibo celebrates and innovates within the Argentinian folk tradition, contributing to the rich diversity of Canada’s arts landscape through both performance and education.
