Cecilia Concerts Presents: Violinist Timothy Chooi is regarded as one of the world’s most promising and exciting emerging artists. He’s performed with major orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony, Orchestra of the Americas, and recently made his Carnegie Hall debut. Timothy studies at the Juilliard School and performs on a 1717 Windsor-Weinstein Stradivarius. Of his brother and fellow violinist, the New York Times described Nikki Chooi‘s playing as “vigorous and colorful.” Nikki served as Concertmaster of New York’s Metropolitan Opera Orchestra during the 2016/2017 season and has appeared as Guest Concertmaster with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra. The Chooi brothers will perform Prokofiev’s Sonata for 2 Violins, Paganini’s 24 Caprices for Solo Violin, Bach’s Chaconne for Solo Violin, Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance for 2 Violins, Dvořák’s l’Humoresque for 2 Violins, and Monti’s Csárdás for 2 Violins.
