Music Director Nurhan Arman leads the orchestra in a program drenched in melody. One of Mendelssohn’s brilliant string symphonies opens the concert, followed by the return of a spectacular virtuoso who thrilled Sinfonia Toronto listeners in 2021. Grandson of the legendary Soviet violinist Viktor Pikayzen, violinist Igor Pikayzen has performed with major orchestras around the world. He joins Sinfonia Toronto for Shostakovch’s gripping Sonata for Violin with String Orchestra and Percussion. The orchestra will also play one of the most beloved works of the Romantic repertoire, Dvorak’s famous Serenade.
