Scotia Festival 2020 will open with a taste of the incredible virtuosity of 23-year old Canadian violinist Kerson Leong, joining us for the first time this year. Also tonight: Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Quintet; a rare bonbon from Beethoven, the “Eyeglasses” Duet, written for himself and his friend Count Nikolaus Zmeskall to play together (they were both shortsighted…), and Schumann’s intense piano masterpiece, Kriesleriana.

Tárrega – Recuerdos de la Alhambra – Kerson Leong, violin

Mozart – Quintet in A Major, K 581– Dominic Desautels, clarinet; Axel Strauss, violin; Elissa Lee, violin; Isaac Chalk, viola; Blair Lofgren, cello

Beethoven – Duet with Two Obbligato Eyeglasses, WoO 32 – Marina Thibeault, viola; Cameron Crozman, cello

Schumann – Kreisleriana – John Novacek, piano
