Members of the Serenata Series, in collaboration with The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, l‘Église Très-Saint-Nom-de-Jésus and Saint John’s Lutheran Church, are presenting two commemorations in celebration of the Protestant Reformation, which was sparked by the posting of Martin Luther’s 95 theses 500 years ago, and which changed the course of European history.
We would like to invite you to join us for this momentous event. Through music, we will explore the life and times of Martin Luther. At the same time, we are also celebrating the renewed worldwide ecumenical dialogue: “From Conflict to Communion”, as presented by the Lutheran–Roman Catholic Commission on Unity, as well as the far-reaching effects on education, society, music and even politics of Martin Luther’s lifelong work and teachings.
The vespers will include works by Bach and Mendelssohn. Admission is free. There will be a free will offering at the end.
Les membres de la série Serenata en collaboration avec les églises St. Andrew and St. Paul, Très-Saint-Nom-de-Jésus et l’église luthérienne Saint-Jean, présentent deux soirées en guise de célébration de la Réforme protestante inspirée par les quatre-vingt-quinze thèses publiées par Martin Luther, qui ont changé l’Histoire de l’Europe, il y a 500 ans.
Nous serions ravis de votre présence. Dans ce célébration, nous explorerons la vie et l’époque de Martin Luther par le biais de la musique. En même temps nous explorerons le renouveau du dialogue œcuménique mondial, tel que présenté par les commissions luthériennes et catholiques romaines dans le document Du conflit à la communion sur l’Unité. Nous nous pencherons également sur la portée considérable que la pédagogie proposée par Martin Luther a eu sur l’éducation, la société, la musique et même sur la scène politique en Europe.
Les Vêpres inclura des œuvres de Bach et Mendelssohn.
