Sarah Davachi’s Three Unisons for Four Voices, commissioned by NO HAY BANDA, is an hour-long piece primarily about texture and incidental harmony. The four “voices” of the ensemble (strings, winds, percussion, electronics) proceed in a slow-moving monody that is made into a sort of variable canon by way of open and offset timings.NO HAY BANDA is a Montreal-based collective committed to the production, performance, and promotion of musical events rooted in exploratory and avant-garde practices.
