Chamberfest celebrates another important milestone with this special concert honouring one of Canada’s most prolific and esteemed composers, Steven Gellman, in his 75th year. A recipient of the Premier Prix from the Paris Conservatory and a student of legendary figures Luciano Berio and Olivier Messiaen, Gellman has built a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, with his music performed across Canada, the United States, and Europe.

The tribute begins with a return to Musings, performed by the Gryphon Trio—who originally premiered the work when it was commissioned by Chamberfest for the 2009 summer festival. Rounding out the programme are Musica Aeterna, a gently evolving piece imbued with a sense of peace and healing, and Gellman’s evocative Piano Quartet. This homage to an Ottawa-based compositional giant promises an afternoon of beauty, depth, and discovery.
