The National Youth Orchestra of Canada makes its long-awaited return to Chamberfest, celebrating 65 seasons of inspiring the next generation of Canadian orchestral talent. Under the baton of one of Canada’s eminent conducting talents, Naomi Woo, the NYO presents a programme which honours the enduring brilliance of orchestral classics. This young orchestra takes on greats of the orchestral repertoire with customary aplomb, beginning the evening with the sparkling Overture to the Magic Flute, diving into the lush, fluid harmonies of Debussy’s La Mer, and closing the evening with Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 5.

Following her 2022 Virginia Parker Prize win, and an auspicious 23/24 season that included engagements across Canada, the US and the UK, Naomi Woo returns for a second season as conductor of the NYO. Canada’s finest young musicians promise an evening of artistry at the highest level.
