Three performances
1:00 – 1: 30: Rachel Mahon is well known in the Canadian organ world, and was appointed Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral in 2020. The fine organ there was largely paid for by donations from the RCCO, spearheaded by Healey Willan, as the modern cathedral rose from the ruins following the destruction of war. Rachel is delighted to include Willan’s monumental I P & F in her programme.
3:00 – 3:30: Norman Reintamm will premiere a work by Philip Forde, his colleague in Barbados, and play a Chorale by John Selleck, a modern Canadian composer. Both works will be performed on a large two-manual Casavant organ housed at St. Joseph’s Church, a space with fine acoustics.
4:00 – 4:30: Rachel Laurin brings the festival to a close with three of her own compositions, a fourth by her late mentor Raymond Daveluy, a fifth by a young American composer, with some joyous Tournemire to round things off.
All performances viewable on-demand till Sept. 30. Registration gives access to all concerts of the day. Daily passes include access to all the day’s events, including performances, workshops, masterclasses, and competitions. Visit the festival website for details.
