The rich musical heritage of Ukraine will be celebrated in Jacques Lacombe’s first concert as the OCM’s new Artistic Director. This grand evening will cover over 200 years of Ukrainian classical music for orchestra, piano, choir and opera soloists by renowned Ukrainian composers and a world premiere by Ukrainian-Canadian composer Joanna Estelle Storoschuk. The featured soloists include a quartet of Ukrainian-Canadian singers and the renowned pianist Serhiy Salov. Conductor Xavier Brossard-Ménard will lead the a cappella choir Les Rugissants through a selection of transcendent Ukrainian choral works. This concert is presented by the Shevchenko Foundation Leon and Zena Kossar Music Fund, along with support from the Ukrainian National Federation of Quebec. The evening will also be in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada. This event will be an important fundraiser for artists in Ukraine through the “Aid for Artists” fund at the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
