As part of the OFF Festival de Jazz, the Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal welcomes the great double bassist and composer Michael Formanek for a concert of his orchestral suite ‘The Distance’ conducted by David Russell Martin.

The creativity and versatility of double bassist Michael Formanek can be measured by the range of eminent musicians from several generations with whom he has worked. As a teenager in the 1970s, he toured with drummer Tony Williams and saxophonist Joe Henderson; from the 1980s onwards, he spent long periods with Stan Getz,
