The opening concert of OCM’s 86th season will feature three exceptional soloists: Innu soprano Élisabeth St-Gelais, Mohawk violinist Tara-Louise Montour, and Cree cellist Cris Derksen. Presented during the week of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the program will include works by Indigenous and non-Indigenous composers alike. Highlights include Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony with visual projections by Oneida artist Alanah Jewell Morningstar, the Québec premiere of Spider Being by Cris Derksen, songs by Tomson Highway, and a violin concerto by Malcolm Forsyth composed especially for Tara-Louise Montour.

Led by OCM’s new music director Andrei Feher, at the majestic Maison symphonique, this concert will be a stirring tribute to Indigenous excellence.
