Axé Worldfest and the National Arts Centre join forces to present the 2nd edition of Axé Summer WorldFest 2026 to celebrate global music, diversity, and culture through three unforgettable days of rhythm, connection, and world-class performances in the heart of Ottawa.
From the heart of the Montes de María on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, where Cumbia was born, Yeison Landero emerged as one of the great performers and leading figures of the genre worldwide. Grandson of the legendary Andrés Landero, The King of Cumbia, Yeison not only carries his last name but also the fire of a tradition that has transcended borders. At the age of seven, Landero became the most cherished disciple of his grandfather, inheriting the soul of a troubadour and virtuosity on the accordion. His journey has been marked by the Mission to preserve, innovate, and bring Cumbia to new audiences.
Lady La Profeta, born in Cali, Colombia, is the 2023 World Poetry Slam Champion. She has toured internationally, been a finalist for iDREAM for her excellence in artistic merit and community involvement, and received nominations in award-winning films. As a woman, her work opens spaces for healing and breaking cycles, dignifying Latino and immigrant stories while building kinship across communities through poetry, music, and film.
