A longtime favourite at Southam Hall, Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn returns to premiere a new concerto for solo violin and orchestra from one of her favourite collaborators, Søren Nils Eichberg. Inspired by the contrasts between light and shadow in the captivating paintings of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, Eichberg’s concerto positions its soloist as a gentle flame emerging from a great darkness, growing brighter as the music journeys toward radiant, comforting light.

And Jocelyn Morlock’s My Name Is Amanda Todd honours the Canadian teenager who took her life in 2012 after suffering years of abuse and bullying, both online and in school. Rather than painting Todd as only a victim, Morlock’s work portrays the teenager’s strength and courage in an emotional search for hope, empathy, and optimism.
