Présence autochtone – First Peoples Festival: a forefront events of Montréal’s summertime cultural ferment.
On the most prestigious esplanade of the city, Place des Festivals, emerges an architectonic installation evocative of the great outdoors and the founding myths that have wrought the soul of the First Peoples of the continent.
A place for encounters and discoveries with demonstrations of ancestral skills, flowing water features, traditional dances, and various concerts
In the evening, video lighting and cartography illuminate the installations and enchant visitors. Memorable concerts take place there every year on the Québecor stage. Indoor activities round out the program: film festival, art exhibitions, public readings, concerts, etc. Présence autochtone is at the crossroads of all the currents flowing through the 21st century reality of peoples whose cultures go back to the earliest human presence on the American lands.
