JUNO award-winning The Fretless have created a signature sound that dares to expand the idea of what a string music quartet can be. With two fiddles, a viola, and a cello, the Toronto-based group transforms folk melodies into intricate, high-energy arrangements.

Winning Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2017 JUNO Awards for their album Bird’s Nest, the critically-acclaimed quartet features Trent Freeman (fiddle and viola), Karrnnel Sawitsky (fiddle and viola), Ben Plotnick (fiddle and viola), and Eric Wright (cello).

Following their collaboration on Glasswing (2024), The Fretless are joined on stage by guest vocalist Madeleine Roger. Hailing from Winnipeg, the folk artist’s breathtaking melodies linger long after they are sung, adding light, depth, and emotion to the quartet’s strings.
