Tristan and Isolde, a colossal love poem, a song of eroticism and death rooted in medieval legend, whose language would go on to revolutionize the operatic genre itself. Last year’s closing concert, Verdi’s Aida, remains etched in everyone’s memory. This year, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestre Métropolitain are doing it again, joined by a cast of the best Wagnerian singers of our time, for what many consider “the opera of operas”.
