A spectacular choir and orchestra, with three outstanding vocal soloists, revive a grand medieval fresco, paired with Rachmaninov’s diabolical virtuosity and Lera Auerbach’s mythological inspiration. That’s what the Festival de Lanaudière is offering you for their opening concert! In his renowned secular cantata Carmina Burana, Carl Orff summons the most exalted forces to stage what he called the “grand theater of the world”: the constant fluctuation of life, its fleeting essence, the joy of connecting with nature, and the pursuit of sensual pleasures.
